Dave Diersen asks an interesting question this morning on his daily media alert.
QUESTION: Why aren't the Chicago area television stations and newspapers arranging televised debates between Brady, Gidwitz, Oberweis, and Topinka and between Birkett, Rauschenberger, and Wegman?
ANSWER: The combine controls the Chicago area television stations and newspapers and the combine knows that such debates would not advance their candidates -- Blagojevich and Topinka.
I'm thinking that there's really no leftstream media conspiracy here; it's likely the debates among the gubernatorial candidates are in the works, they just haven't been publicized yet.
During the 2004 U.S. Senate campaign, the television/radio stations knew that the candidates would drop everything to schedule a televised or statewide radio debate.
This interest in the lieutenant governor's race is unique. Off the top of your heads and without looking at the State Board of Elections website, can anyone tell us who ran for LG in the March 2002 primary? (Beside Quinn!)
I doubt much attention will be given to that race at all . . .
