Emboldened by the new Democrat veto-proof majority in the Illinois Senate, State Senator Jeffrey Schoenberg (D-Chicago) says he will try once again next year to pass the Illinois Stem Cell Research Promotion and Human Cloning Prohibition Act (House Bill 138). He will be assisted in the Illinois House by Republican Minority Leader Tom Cross (Plainfield) along with two other Republicans -- Beth Coulson (Glenview) and Carolyn Krause (Mt. Prospect).
Just once more for the record: pro-lifers favor stem cell research. They favor using adult and umbilical cord stem cells. They oppose sacrificing the lives of tiny humans for the sake of experimentation. The donation of adult and umbilical cord stem cells does not endanger lives.
But, apparently, the opinion of pro-lifers may not matter to the new Illinois General Assembly. In the new session, liberal, pro-abortion Democrats will be joined by Republicans such as Reps. Cross, Krause, Coulson, Mulligan, Beaubien, and Mathias, who will be giddy and gleeful as they glide through ghoulish legislation to Governor Blagojevich's welcoming hands.
Where were pro-life Republicans while all this was going on? Well, let's see -- we were 1. suing each other over organizational by-laws, 2. stabbing each other in the back, 3. demanding corrupt party leaders to step down, 4. calling for party reconstruction and 5. elbowing each other to the ground for self-grandizement.
None of the above proved productive as far as I can see. I continue to hope that someday, perhaps, we can soon focus on the REAL enemies -- those pro-aborts and human embryo ghouls who stand outside the chamber doors each legislation session, plotting their next human-endangering ploy. When will we ever learn?
The Southtown says Schoenberg's bill will ban cloning. That is a farce. Somatic nuclear cell transfer (SNCT) is cloning. Embryonic stem cell research requires SNCT. So, because Republicans weren't able to get their act together because they were so busy fighting each other, we are now faced with our tax dollars (which are sure to be increasing -- another whole topic for another day) being used to pay for SNCT and embryonic stem cell research.
Ahhh. . . last November we taught the Democrats and the GOP leadership a real lesson by staying home and not voting, didn't we?
