Barack Obama's shameless attempt yesterday to embarrass the Bush Administration's ongoing efforts to correct New Orleans' longterm problems with real solutions other than band-aids embarrassed the Illinois senator.
It's the lowest form of politicizing to feed off desperate people to promote oneself -- something Obama has done among African-Americans his whole political career.
Obama detected a sense of urgency in New Orleans alright -- one that he thought stepping in to point fingers at Bush and sympathize with the hurricane victims would work to endear needy Louisiana voters to his presidential run.
That's shameless.

NEW ORLEANS -- Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama toured hurricane-scarred New Orleans on Monday after criticizing the White House for the slow pace of recovery from storms that hit the Gulf Coast almost a year and a half ago.
''There is not a sense of urgency out of this White House and this administration,'' Obama said during a Senate committee hearing on the response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
