Parents, be aware this summer while your kids are off to the library to browse for summer reading selections, that your tax dollars may be paying for access to illegal obscene materials via the library's unfiltered internet.
The Illinois Senate apparently has no interest in moving along State Rep. Kevin Joyce's HB1727 to protect children visiting the library this spring. The bill is stuck in the Senate Rules' purgatory.
In the meantime, one Palos Heights mom hasn't given up. She wants her City Council to apply pressure to protect kids who visit her local library . . .
While the bill is still being discussed by the Senate, [Palos Heights' resident Karen] Hayes hopes to give its passage a little boost. She addressed the Palos Heights City Council on May 15 asking aldermen to pass a resolution in favor of the bill. Hayes’ request came a little more than a month after members of the Palos Heights Public Library Board of Trustees unanimously passed a resolution against House Bill 1727 at a board meeting.
