Illinois Review drew national attention in 2007 for Jill Stanek's posts on the HPV vaccine mandate for young girls ("IR gets national attention," "Debbie does... ??," "Debbie does, II" and "A vaccine-induced nightmare") and international notice for IR's pieces on Barack Obama's church teachings ("IR focus on Obama gets picked up by London paper," "Obama's church teachings discussion opened in Tuesday's Trib").
