Last week's St. Louis Post-Dispatch poll of 800 likely Illinois voters said they're disgusted with Governor Blagojevich and the General Assembly. While the Governor's not on the ballot this year, those Chicago Democrats who lead the Illinois General Assembly are.
Too bad most of them are running unopposed and the Republican leadership in both houses openly share their lack of enthusiasm about regaining a majority in either house this election season.
Wonder how history would stand today if Newt Gingrich thought the same way in 1994?
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — After a bitter yearlong war of wills against the state Legislature, Gov. Rod Blagojevich's public approval rating remains dismally low, according to a new Post-Dispatch/KMOV-TV poll. But the Legislature's approval rating is even lower.
In an illustration of the old political adage that everyone gets dirty in a mud fight, poll respondents gave Blagojevich a "favorable" rating of 42 percent — one of the lowest of his five years as governor — while hitting the Legislature with an even worse 37 percent.
