If you're one of those conservatives that doesn't care about social issues, skip this posting. Don't waste your time.
If you're still reading, it means you care about moral issues. Get ready to make a phone call to your U.S. Congressman and Illinois Governor Blagojevich. If you don't want to make that call, skip this posting. Don't waste your time.
Now, if you're still with us, you need to pay close attention. This issue is about what your kids will be taught about a key component of their private lives, and will have a profound affect on the way they view life.
If you think your kids are learning a healthy appreciation for the reproductive system in their school health classes, you're sadly mistaken. Since Governor Blagojevich has zeroed out state funding for wait-until-marriage-to-have-sex abstinence programs, Project Reality has been forced to significantly cut back its outreach. Your kids' school is likely one of those eliminated if your kids were being taught real abstinence. Millions of state dollars continue to fund fake abstinence programs -- those that give details like the ones Barack Obama wants for his 6 and 9 year old girls . . . read about it here.
If that weren't bad enough, now the Democrat-ruled U.S. Congress is about to eliminate abstinence funding for those federally-funded programs. Congressman Henry Waxman is determined to direct all sex ed funding to Planned Parenthood's idea of sex education rather than promote excellence in character and academics.
Call your Illinois congressman today in DC and tell them our kids deserve the highest aspirations for life, and that includes being encouraged to focus on their talents, abilities and studies rather than be encouraged to experiment with sex as the phony sex ed programs so deceptively named "comprehensive" sex education do.
Hearings are being held this week in DC on this issue. The Heritage Foundation will be sharing their findings about the success of abstinence education. But with pro-promiscuity lawmakers in control, federal abstinence education funding is seriously threatened.
But don't call if you're not a social issues conservative. Maybe you might want to call if you're sick of throwing away money on phony sex ed programs. Whichever reason, this path will be pursued if the Democrats remain in control and the American people don't say a word.

And while you're at it, call the Governor and tell him to put state funding for abstinence education back into the FY 2009 budget.
