Well, it’s official. There's a new "O" in the 2008 election cycle. This one is Marty Ozinga, who is now the official Republican candidate for the 11th Congressional District. As you can see from the “I Am Not a Politician” ad here in Illinois Review, he is out in full force this week. And his campaign sent out the following email this morning:
Dear Friends:
My name is Marty Ozinga, your Republican nominee for the 11th Congressional District.
I'm not a politician – CLICK HERE to find out why.
I'm a father, a husband and a small business owner. My wife of thirty-seven years and I have lived in Will County since 1992, and we have six sons, four daughters-in-law and eight grandchildren, with three more on the way.
There are countless challenges that face our region, our state and our country. To meet these challenges, we don't need another politician, we need one of us: someone who has raised a family, built a business, and given a lifetime of service to our community.
When I was fifteen, I started working at Ozinga Bros. concrete company as a $1-per-hour yard laborer, sweeping the surrounding streets and sidewalks of material spill-overs. Throughout high school, I worked hard for each new promotion: from sweeping sidewalks, to loading concrete trucks, to driving small dump trucks. At eighteen, I was driving the red-and-white-striped ready-mix concrete trucks for union-scale wages.
Today, I'm proud to serve as president of Ozinga Bros., based in Mokena, which is now the largest private family-owned concrete company in the country. We're proud to employ about 1200 people, and we know the challenges that face employers and workers in our district. I've always tried to give back to the community, and that's why I work hard to volunteer for numerous non-profit and charitable organizations here in Illinois, and throughout the world. My father instilled in me the importance of leadership through serving others. It's those same values that are driving me to run for Congress, and it's that same sense of duty that has guided my service to our community.
While I'm no politician, I've worked hard. My faith and family, business and life experiences have shaped what I am committed to. I will continue in my commitment to put people first in everything I do.
And I will serve the people of the 11th District with deep conviction and great gratitude. Thank you for your time. I look forward to meeting you on the campaign trail.
Sincerely,
Marty Ozinga
Candidate – 11th Congressional District
