The legislature's still in session today, and so much is rolling across our screen, we're unable to tear ourselves away from IR today, even on one of the most gorgeous days in 2008! Come on, guys, give us a break . . .
IL GOP Chairman Andy McKenna's responding to U.S. Senator Dick Durbin's dissing of fellow Democrat, Governor Rod Blagojevich, who told the Chicago Tribune last night that he was "troubled" with some of Blagojevich's early appointments, and that he really has little contact with the governor from the state Durbin represents to the U.S. Senate.
Hear that back up alarm going off . . . ?
Actually, Durbin said, he talked to former governor George Ryan more than he does the current state's executive. That's supposed to make us feel better?
McKenna said Saturday,
"It is laughable that after years of silence regarding Rod Blagojevich and his troubling administration that Dick Durbin is now attempting to distance himself from the most corrupt Governor in America.
"What's even more hypocritical is that we have two United States Senators from Illinois traversing this country talking about change for the nation and yet they have done nothing to bring change for Illinois.
"The worst part of Senator Durbin's statements is that even now, when given the opportunity, he still refuses to admonish Rod Blagojevich for his unethical behavior."
