The gay rights organization Change.org has an online petition demanding that the Oak Brook Crowne Plaza discriminate against the Illinois Family Institute and its members by refusing to allow IFI to hold their 2009 annual dinner at the hotel. The dinner's keynote speaker is former presidential candidate and Fox News personality Mike Huckabee.
The LGBT activist group is upset that an IFI employee exercised her free speech rights and posted an article online that "urged churches to combat" the LGBT agenda. The organization is citing Crowne Plaza's anti-discrimination policy, which, according to Change.org, includes a pledge not to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. They argue that allowing IFI to use the hotel's facilities is contrary to that pledge.
