United and American Airlines passengers will be some of the first in the nation to have their bodies scanned before boarding flights, starting as soon as next year, Chicago's aviation commissioner Rosemary Andolino said, the Tribune is reporting.
How will they work? Tribune writes:
Even though facial features are blurred to protect privacy, the images reveal breasts, buttocks and other private parts, which in the past prompted some civil liberties groups to call the machines an unacceptable intrusion.
The high-tech scanners have been tested at up to a dozen airports on passengers who were selected for more intensive scrutiny or set off alarms while going through traditional security measures.
Passengers will stand inside a phone booth-sized compartment, raise their hands over the head and place both feet, legs spread apart, on markings on the floor. The process takes seconds. Weapons or other banned items appear on a screen as darker than skin.
America is being attacked by radical jihadists, and we are the ones to pay the price by loss of privacy and Constitutional rights. What is wrong with this picture?
