from the Meers for Congress campaign
New Lenox Mayor Tim Balderman has announced his support for Henry Meers for Congress in the 11th District Republican primary.
“As a mayor, I am faced with both local and federal issues, and we need representation in Congress that understands the federal system and will fight aggressively to resist the power grabbing policies we see today” said Balderman.
“Henry (Meers) has the knowledge and the philosophy that we so desperately need in Washington,” Balderman added.
Balderman said that Meers’ dedication to job-producing tax cuts and empowering the people to have more control at the local level are essential to restoring America to economic and political health.
“With his knowledge and determination, Henry will not be a typical freshman, relegated to the back bench for several years. He will enter Congress as one of the experts on the all-important economic issues,” Balderman said.
Meers expressed his great gratitude to Balderman, and noted that had he been the candidate in 2008, Debbie Halvorson would not be representing the 11th District.
“Tim is a person of great principle, who sees public office as public service, as the Founders intended,” said Meers.
Joliet Township Republic Chairman Chuck McCauley has also announced the group’s endorsement of Meers.
According to Chairman McCauley, this time of economic crisis in America requires people of extraordinary knowledge and ability.
“Everyone who has heard Henry speak knows that he stands head and shoulders above the other candidates in terms of his understanding of the issues, his positive proposals to fix what is broken and his aggressive determination to get the job done,” said McCauley.
He noted that some have thought that Meers has been too tough on his Republican opponents, but he does not agree.
“Henry is the one candidate willing to show the voters the differences between the candidates, which is critical to an informed voter.”
“He is right on the issues and has the ability to go toe-to-toe with Debbie Halvorson and the Democrat Machine,” McCauley concluded.
