What a surprise - Mike Madigan is getting his way in the Illinois House!
Democrat House Speaker Michael Madigan advanced today his legislation aimed at eliminating the lieutenant governor's office in 2015 - leaving his daughter as heir apparent the next time an Illinois Governor is incapacitated (physically or legally).
Madigan says his power play is in response to Scott Lee Cohen's victory in the Democrat Primary election this month. But it's more likely a stalking horse for what fellow Democrat Lou Lang is pushing - requiring each gubernatorial candidate to find, recruit, and run with a lieutenant governor candidate in the primary.
Just another trick to protect incumbency and maintain the power structure currently in place.
