If you haven't seen it yet, here's the intro to Governor Quinn's online budget...quite a drum roll as the symphony for higher taxes begins. Why not cut some of the six digit staff salaries? Why not have every state employee take a 15% cut like numerous private companies are making their employees do this year? And how do we increase jobs and build businesses for a bigger tax base and therefore more revenue? By cutting personal income and corporate taxes, not raising them. Here's the Democrats' idea, found at www.budget.illinois.gov.
Sounds like Madigan plans to delay a vote on this budget until after May 31, when Republican votes will be needed in the House to pass it. What should House Republicans' response be?
