It was expected, but still fascinating to see. One of the reasons that the Democrats wanted Health Care so badly was they knew that it would be a bludgeon against Republicans for years to come.
Yesterday, I saw our own dear Senator Dick Durbin on MSNBC. When he was asked about repealing he said (paraphrasing) "Do we really want to take away health care from a poor child who has diabetesand will be relying on that support"? Yes, it all about "the children". Those mean, evil, wicked Republicans want people to die horrible and tragic deaths. Blah, blah, blah. This is the mantra that the Dems will use for the next 100 years against Republicans. Get used to it. It's the same thing they've said for years about environmental regulations - we want to poison people.
This morning, Democrats in Virginia compared the efforts by the Attorney General in Virgina to file a lawsuit against the bill to those in the 1960's that fought desegregation. If you want rational government, I guess that means you are a racist.
Before the vote on health care, Democrats stridently marched through a group of Tea Party protesters and claimed that they were called the "n' word, Barney Frank supposedly was called the "f" word and a Congressman claimed he was spit on. Mary Mitchell from the Sun Times was outraged. The only trouble is that there is no proof that anything like that was said. The Congressmen and women walked through the crowd LOOKING for controversy. When none really happened, they went with the story anyway since they knew that no one in the main stream media would question them. Mary Mitchell didn't.
Importantly - ANYONE caught sending death threats to Congressmen and women, or engaging in racists behavior need to be convicted. End of story. It shouldn't be tolerated and it needs to be condemned.
Of course it would have been nice if the lefty Congressmen and women had condemned attacks from their leftists supporters during the town halls last year, but I guess that was asking a lot.
However, there have been dozens of cases of those on the left faking racists actions. A local Illinois college student, Alicia Hardin was found to have sent racists letters to other minority students in 2005 at Trinity University. The problem was she is a young black lady who just wanted to go home and thought this was a good idea.
Remember Maurice Schwenkler? He was the lefty that smashed windows at the Colorado Democrat Party offices. The Democrat State Party Chair initially blamed those evil Tea Party groups.
Racist rants were found at the University of Mississippi in 2002 at the 40th anniversary of the desegregation of its classrooms. Everyone was really upset until it was found out that it was a fake.
If the threats against Congressmen are found out to be real - the criminals should be punished. If they are found out to be threats perpetrated by lefties trying to stir the pot, then they should be punished equally. Of course it may end up to be REALLY convenient if these threats against Congressmen and women who support health care reform end up being staged events to help their cause. As the old saying goes - follow the money.
