Mark D. Cuthbert has been appointed to the position of Chairman of the Veterans Coalition for the Illinois Republican Party effective immediately.
Republican National Committeewoman and Director of Coalitions Demetra DeMonte recruited and appointed Cuthbert to his new position. “Mark brings new energy and ideas to the position, including a desire to work with local veteran organizations and develop efficient ways to keep vets informed on the issues. I look forward to working with him.” said DeMonte.
A veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Cuthbert, 29, served in the U.S. Air Force as a combat weatherman, assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) of the Army. After finishing his active duty service in 2006, Cuthbert attended Harvard Business School, earning a master’s in business administration degree in 2008.
His other degrees include a bachelor’s in arts in physics and mathematics from the University of Chicago in 2002 and a bachelor’s in science in meteorology from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2004. He is currently employed with Boston Consulting Group in Chicago and serves as a Republican Precinct Committeeman in Downers Grove Township. He also is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 503 and American Legion Post 80.
“Our veterans, who have served our country and fought for our freedoms, are a large and important part of our society,” Cuthbert said. “Understanding the issues and concerns veterans have and making sure their voices are heard throughout the Illinois Republican Party is my number one goal.”
Born and raised in the Southwest suburbs, Cuthbert is the son of the late Mark A. Cuthbert, a member of the International Brotherhood of Operating Engineers, Local 150, and Jean Cuthbert, a former English professor at Kankakee Community College
He and his wife, Christine, have lived in Hinsdale since 2008 and are expecting their first child.
