Using their moral blackmail and citing an instance of deadly speeding, the amoral nanny-staters in Springfield approved extra penalties (read: government revenue) for drivers who speed 30
to 40 miles per hour above the speed limit. With the new regulation, drivers who speed 30 miles (vs. 29 or 25 or 20) mph could be charged with a Class
B misdemeanor, rather than merely a ticket and fine. Those who drive
faster than 40 mph above the limit could be charged with a Class A
misdemeanor.
Of course, if their goal was really to prevent accidents, they would outlaw driving all together.
