For those of us who are Illinois political junkies, you’re aware that Gov. Quinn selected and the Democratic State Central committee put in place as his Lt. Gov mate Sheila Simon, daughter of deceased Senator Paul Simon. One would think Art Turner who finished second behind the disgraced Scott Lee Cohen who was coerced to quit after it was revealed he was not “nice”” to women and other issues.
So my question to all my brothers & sisters of color is, what are you getting for the money? Answer, “Chump change, brother.” This what you’re going to continue to receive when you constantly vote 90% Democratic in every election without regard to the results. While everyone speaks of diversity there’s literally no diversity when people vote lock step 90% of the time for the same party. They take you for granted because your vote’s automatically assumed, therefore they don’t need to compete for your vote or support. You’re giving it away.
A couple of weeks ago, Art Turner was on Tom Roeser's fabulous radio show Political Shootout on WLS 890 where Mr. Turner discussed a lot of his political views. While I disagree with just about everything he stands for, the fact is he did finish second behind Lee and should have automatically been selected. The same mistake was made when the IL GOP brought in Alan Keyes rather than have Jim Oberweis run for US Senate when Jack Ryan was forced to quit.
Chicago Alderman Howard Brookings has been begging for years to have a Walmart store come into his ward. Who’s standing in the way? Who would benefit from cheaper products and a possibility of a job there as well? Who stands in the way just like former Alabama George Wallace stood in the school house door to deny blacks an opportunity? It’s the same Democratic Party you’ve been voting for 90% of the time without regard to how it affects you.
For some odd reason, it seems as if we have a bipartisan problem with leadership in Illinois and the disastrous results of course show in this state being at the bottom of nearly every category of economic & business growth statistic. Why is it that Texas creates more jobs than the other states combined, and who’s in charge there?
Who has been in charge of the Chicago Public School system where roughly only 6% of those children will finish college? Who is in charge of Cook County where there are massive droughts of thriving businesses, around fringe areas bordering other counties and especially Indiana? There are signs welcoming Illinois businesses to Indiana, why is that? Who’s been in charge of the State of Illinois where a wacky Mayor can destroy an airport like a thief in the middle of the night, or where we saw an exodus of trucks leave the state when the registration fees were tripled? I could go on and on with details like this, but it would be redundant. The bottom line is there are less jobs for those in the community due to poor leadership and people who are unwilling to hold them accountable. Do something about it.
On a national level, the pandering the Democratic Party & the CBC’s doing by supporting amnesty for those who are in this country illegally, will only serve to cost jobs in the black community. More people here means less employment for those who were here first. It’s the old law of supply and demand. So again, the question begs the answer of what are you getting for the money? The recently passed “health care”bill and the stupid cap & trade bill if passed will continue to cause people to loose jobs as well.
Il State Senator Meeks is wisely pushing for school vouchers as he’s realizing competition in education works just like it works in any other field, It tends to make one better as a result. Compare the idea of competition to the Chicago Bears. Last year they were not competitive, and they sucked. Recently Obama nixed the school voucher for those poor kids in Washington DC. When the voucher bill was voted again in the US Senate, Durbin and most of the Democrats voted against it. Why don’t they support a bill which was helping poor black kids in Washington DC?. Who supported Obama and Durbin in this last election with a 90% result, and what do you get for the money?
As Dan Proft would say when he was campaigning for governor, “Illinois not broken, it’s fixed.” By voting 90% without regards to the results, you’re going to continue to receive chump change because that’s all you’re worth to those who are taking you for granted. Please consider true diversity by voting for the conservative candidate and in a short while you’ll see the same results enjoyed by those who live in states like Indiana and Texas. Tired of the chump change, my fellow brothers & sisters, then vote Conservative, you’ll be glad you did.
