Springfield, IL. – Congressman Aaron Schock (R-IL) will host the first annual Leadership Summit in Springfield on Friday.
Schock has invited "Jimmy" John Liautaud, the owner and founder of Jimmy John's sandwich franchise; 2009 Miss America Katie Stam; and Carl Cannon, the founder and director of the CHOICES and ELITE programs in Peoria; to address high school students throughout the district on leadership.
This is the first year the Congressman will be hosting this event, which is a free event open to all public, private and home-schooled students in the 18th district.
"This will be a unique opportunity for high school students to learn from some exceptional speakers who will share their life stories - from businessmen to beauty queens,” said Schock. “Each has a different perspective of overcoming challenges, perseverance and achieving success in their respective fields. And although their professions are demanding - they have all made it a priority to give back to society. I am truly grateful for them taking the time from their busy schedules to offer inspiration and serve as a role-model to the students in the 18th district. I know this will be a memorable learning experience for the students."
