SEIU president Tom Balanoff testified during the Blagojevich trial Tuesday that the night before Barack Obama was elected president in 2008, he was on the phone with Balanoff, scheming a way to get Rod Blagojevich to appoint Obama's close confidante and White House insider Valerie Jarrett to fill his U.S. Senate seat.
Why did Balanoff have that much influence? What would he get with Jarrett in place? We already know what Blagojevich had gotten from SEIU during the 2006 election. Blagojevich asked for a White House cabinet post because he was bored with being governor of Illinois ... or something like that.
Speculation that Obama interviewed with the feds when he was in town over Memorial Day continues to percolate...
