Here's how your Illinois House member voted on the concealed carry bill HB 148 before State Rep. Brandon Phelps (D-Harrisburg), the sponsor, pulled the vote on postponed consideration. 71 votes were needed for passage to supercede home rule. Green is "yes," Red is "no." Phelps was joined by 44 co-sponsors. However, note that Speaker Madigan (Mr. Speaker) voted "no." Thus, we know the Speaker's wishes on the issue, and perhaps the reason for the death of this year's attempt to make Illinois the 49th state allowing law-abiding citizens the right to defend themselves.
