CHICAGO - With the new year, Illinois Tollway drivers will face an additional drain on their exhausted budgets. The Illinois Tollway Authority Board voted in a 7 to 1 decision Thursday to raise I-PASS rates from $.40 to $.75 and regular toll booth rates from $.80 to $1.50 per booth fee.
Of course, trucks and multi-axle vehicle rates are assumed to nearly double as well, a cost that will eventually be passed on to consumers throughout the state.
So drive on the tollway or not, everyone will pay for today's Illinois Toll hike and the cost of living in the Chicago area will increase yet again.
