The American Conservative Union on Friday endorsed conservative Indiana State Treasurer Richard Mourdock over 80-year-old incumbent RINO Sen. Dick Lugar for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senator in the Indiana primary on May 8. This should help to clarify that Lugar is flying under false colors when he makes clumsy claims that he is a conservative and Mourdock is not. Lugar's clear record just does not support such claims.
The American Conservative Union has endorsed Richard Mourdock in his bid to unseat Senator Dick Lugar. In a press release, Chairman Al Cardenas explains:
Richard Mourdock is the clear conservative choice in the Indiana Republican Primary May 8th. His record as a successful businessman and as State Treasurer shows that he will bring a needed understanding of free enterprise and sound fiscal policies to the Senate. As Treasurer, Richard Mourdock earned over $1 million in investment income for taxpayers and returned 10% of his budget back to the Treasury each year.
The incumbent, Senator Lugar, has frequently opposed conservatives on key issues in the Senate, such as earmark reform while supporting the bailouts of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac against a majority of Republicans.
