The Illinois House could cut the Illinois FY 13 budget by $900,000 is they vote to slash their own paychecks by one day a month and bar a previously-approved cost of living adjustment. An amended version of HB 3188 passed the Illinois Senate earlier this year and was adopted Wednesday in the House State Government Committee. Shortly after committee passage, 41 GOP House members signed on as co-sponsors.
Next stop for HB 3188 is a consensus vote on the Illinois House floor. If the proposal passes the House and is signed by the Governor, it would go into effect immediately.
