Home foreclosure activity in the Chicago area jumped 28 percent in the first half of the year from the prior six months, the third-biggest increase in the country, according to a new report.
With one foreclosure filing for every 55 housing units, the Chicago area had the 15th-highest rate of foreclosure filings among U.S. metro areas, according to a report released by Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac Inc., an online listing firm for distressed properties.
