A veteran Chicago police officer pleaded guilty Thursday to pocketing hundreds of dollars in payoffs from a tow truck operator who was secretly working for the FBI as part of an undercover probe that exposed widespread bribery at crash scenes. Juan Prado becomes the seventh Chicago cop to be convicted in Operation Tow Scam.
Prado admitted that while assigned to the Shakespeare District — which includes the Logan Square neighborhood (where Rahm Emanuel refuses to allow a Chick-fil-A) — he accepted a combined $3,790 in bribes.
Prado faces 3-4 years in prison, and could be ordered to pay back the bribe money to the FBI. However, there is no word on whether he has to pay back the taxpayers or give up his taxpayer-funded pension. ...More HERE
