Gov. Mitt Romney has made a wise selection in 42-year-old House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) who is a solid conservative choice for Romney's vice-presidential running mate. Ryan can fire up enthusiasm in a united GOP for the fall election campaign. He is an outstanding selection because he is one of the smartest intellectual leaders in the House.
Ryan is a former speech writer for the late Rep. Jack Kemp (R-NY) and has served in Congress for the last 14 years. He has the ability to carry a strong and articulate argument for the conservative economic message but is not excessively partisan nor does he engage in personal attacks. For example, he was the most articulate House member to confront President Barack Obama directly over the fantastic cost of Obamacare in this C-SPAN coverage of House members meeting with the president in 2010.
