The often angry Democratic Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate has been breaking all records in his "unilateral race to the bottom" this year says Mona Charen in her column posted over at National Review Online. Not only did Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) attack Mitt Romney with a slanderous and false claim from "a secret source" that Romney had not filed tax returns "for ten years," but now Reid has attacked Romney as one who has "sullied" the Mormon faith.
According to his biography, Sen. Reid was raised agnostic but became a nominal convert to the Mormon Church when he was in college. Although one cannot be sure of the motives of a politician for a religious conversion, the fact that many voters in Nevada are Mormons does lead one to wonder. Mitt Romney is a former Mormon missionary and a former bishop of a ward. Sen. Harry Reid will be 74 years old in December and while Mona Charen does not say this, based on Reid's pattern of erratic behavior this year, I think it is fair to speculate as to whether or not Sen. Reid has possibly slipped into the slow lane.
