Did Mitt Romney lose in part because voters dislike rich people and privilege? The last very rich candidate for president before this year was Sen. John Kerry in 2004 and he also lost. Then one has to go back 44 years to the rich Sen. John F. Kennedy but he won in a super-close race. President Franklin Roosevelt was from a rich and aristocratic family but maybe many voters did not know that just as many did not even know he was in a wheelchair until he referred to the fact on radio in 1945.
Voters have many times elected rich candidates to the US Senate and for governor but not for president but with two exceptions. What do you think? Is being seen as rich something that disqualifies a candidate?
