SPRINGFIELD - The 97th General Assembly adjourned Tuesday afternoon leaving major issues on the table for the 98th General Assembly to take up Wednesday at noon, when new members will be sworn into office at the University of Illinois at Springfield's Sangamon Auditorium.
In the spring session, Illinois Democrats will hold an overpowering veto-proof majority in both the Senate and the House.
The only major policy vote taken Tuesday was to issue drivers licenses to residents who entered America circumventing the immigration system. One frustrated Illinois conservative summed up the session like this on his Facebook page:
