CHICAGO - Wednesday morning, University of Illinois - Chicago campus trustees approved a student health insurance plan that will include "gender reassignment," otherwise known as "sex change," surgical procedures. Students will be required to pay up to 30 percent of the elective procedure.
Two trustees - both Republican - opposed the measure, and former U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald - considered a political independent - supported the student-initiated effort, along with the other trustees.
