Secular media is making much of the remark by Pope Francis in Rome on Monday that he would not "judge" gays in the church. But as usual, the secular media spins this very simple reference to avoid judging found in Matthew 7:1 for two centuries as somehow a new shift in church policy. They choose to ignore the fact that withholding judgment of an individual is not the same thing as approving the behavior of an individual who fails to follow church teaching. Christians are often advised to "hate the sin but love the sinner." Of course Christians teach that God loves all His creatures and He is willing to forgive sin, but that never means that sin itself does not exist or should be promoted.
