Allan Carlson is President of The Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society and editor of the quarterly publication, The Family in America: A Journal of Public Policy. He holds a Ph.D. in Modern European History from Ohio University and has taught at Hillsdale College, Gettysburg College, and the John Paul II Institute on Marriage and the Family. His dozen books include: The Swedish Experiment in Family Politics; Family Questions: Reflections on the American Social Crisis; The Natural Family: A Manifesto; andFractured Generations: Crafting a Family Policy for Twenty-First-Century America. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan appointed him to The National Commission on Children, on which he served until 1993.
