SPRINGFIELD - We Ask America/Capitol Fax released new poll findings Tuesday night that shows GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner's latest dump of $1 million paying for another round of introductory campaign ads is paying off.
The Chicago investor is now leading with 24% over State Senator Bill Brady (at 18%), State Treasurer Dan Rutherford (at 16%) and State Senator Kirk Dillard (at 10%). The overwhelming number of those Republicans polled - 28% - said they were "undecided" about the race.
Other questions on the poll conducted this week could explain why so many likely Republican voters remain undecided - they simply don't know the candidates.
Capitol Fax posts that the overwhelming number of those surveyed are "not sure" how to rate Rauner, Dillard, Brady and Rutherford as "favorable" or "unfavorable." Among the four, thus far, only Rutherford's favorables outrank his unfavorables, but even Rutherford's "not sures" are high.
