SPRINGFIELD - Democrat State Sen. Michael Hastings has introduced legislation making it a felony for a citizen to display government-defined "sexual material" of another person without that person's consent, or if a person retracts their consent after giving it.
Hastings' says pornography is sometimes posted online as revenge by angry boyfriends, girlfriends or spouses. The Orland Hills State Senator thinks this is harmful and requires the state to intervene.
Mary Dixon of the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois doesn't have a problem with the new regualations, but says her organization is concerned the bill may be too broad and would like to see some changes.
The legislation (SB2694) now moves to the Senate.
