SPRINGFIELD - "Libertarian Chad Grimm knows that it takes real conservative principles to make Illinois soar," says a new political action committee called "Liberty for Illinois."
The group filed paperwork with the Illinois State Board of Elections October 22, and a week later, a mailer attributed to them hit downstate Illinois voters mailboxes promoting Libertarian candidate Chad Grimm for governor. The only name on the ISBE paperwork is of a forklift operator named Michael Bonivel of Chicago.
Liberty for Illinois has raised over $300,000 in the past few days, starting with $200,000 from IUOE Local 150. Other unions have contributed, as well:
The Illinois Republican Party sent out two mailers in the past week warning Republicans that Madigan and Quinn were trying to steal the election by promoting Chad Grimm, and one of the mailers urged Republicans to vote for their candidate for governor, Bruce Rauner.
