A Rockford woman mistakenly identified as the New York Times reporter that released the home address of police officer Darren Wilson has been getting harassing phone calls since Tuesday night.
Rockford's Julie Bosma was incorrectly identified on social media as the Julie Bosman of Chicago, one of two New York Times reporters who published the address of Ferguson's newlywed Officer Wilson.
From WREX:
A Rockford woman has received threats after being mistaken for a New York Times reporter who released Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson's address.
Julie Bosma of Rockford started receiving threatening calls and voice mails Tuesday evening that were intended for NYT reporter Julie Bosman.
Bosma says she believed the calls were a scam initially, especially because she has no connection to recent incidents in Ferguson, Mo.
Bosma ignored the first phone calls, but when more and more came in, she called her brother in Kansas City for help on figuring out how people were getting her information.
Bosma discovered her address along with her phone number had been released online and that information was quickly going viral on websites and social media sites, including Twitter. At this point, Bosma called the Rockford Police Department who responded to her residence.
