Democrat state Rep. Mike Smiddy (photo above) doesn't like Illinois Republican Governor Bruce Rauner or his Turn Around Agenda reforms that seek to change the business and political landscape in Illinois.
At a town hall meeting Thursday at the Sterling public library Smiddy said that the recently elected Governor wasn't a good politician and that he was a lot like GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The Dixon Telegraph has more:
"In a lot of ways, he’s not a very good politician," Smiddy said of Rauner. "He’s kind of like Donald Trump, in that he says whatever he wants to all the time, so you kind of get an unfiltered view of him."
Smiddy, D-Hillsdale, said that Rauner treats legislators like "his employees."
"When it comes to compromise and negotiations, it‘s very much lacking on the part of the governor," Smiddy said. "He’d rather keep these campaign-style ads running and in our mailboxes than sit down with individuals and talk about what ordinary citizens are facing."
"The workers' compensation reform – we’ve taken that up for him," Smiddy said, "and yet he will not sign that bill, because it’s not his exact words. So he’s not willing to compromise on that, but we gave him the biggest compromise that he was looking for."
