SPRINGFIELD - Medical marijuana will be going on sale in Illinois in two weeks, and Friday the state will send out 3200 ID cards to approved patients.
On October 7, the Medical Cannabis Advisory Board recommended eight conditions and diseases be added to the Illinois Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act. However, before patient registration applications can be accepted for any new conditions or diseases, the director of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) must approve recommendations made by the Board, and IDPH must adopt administrative rules to add those conditions and diseases.
The proposed conditions include: Chronic pain due to trauma, Chronic Pain Syndrome, Chronic Post-Operative Pain, Intractable Pain, Osteoarthritis, Autism, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD).
And while the exact date has yet to be announced as to when the medical marijuana distribution centers will open, here's the list and location of the six approved centers are located from southern Marion to near Wisconsin line Mundelein:
