The Republican National Committee sent out the following press release Wednesday during President Biden's visit to northwest suburban McHenry County Community College:

Biden Is Visiting The Poster Child For Failed Democrat Leadership, With Illinoisans Suffering The Consequences Of Crime, A Faltering Economy, And Chronic Corruption

THE SIX TRILLION DOLLAR MAN

  • Today, Biden is traveling to the Chicago suburb of Crystal Lake, Illinois to sell his American Bankruptcy Plan.
  • With a price tag of $1.8 trillion, Biden’s “family” plan is full of spending and tax increases that would shrink the economy and reduce hours for Illinois workers.

o   The Penn Wharton Budget Model puts the cost of Biden’s latest plan even higher, projecting it will cost $2.3 trillion, $500 billion more than Biden claims.

  • In total, Biden has proposed more than $6 trillion in new spending and $3 trillion in tax hikes that Illinois taxpayers would ultimately foot the bill for.

o   Biden’s spending spree averages out to more than $46,000 per American household.

ILLINOISANS ARE FACING RISING PRICES UNDER BIDEN

  • Illinoisans are already seeing higher prices for the goods and products they need.

o   Nationally, consumer prices have jumped 5 percent over the 12-month period ending in May, the fastest pace since 2008.

o   In the Midwest, prices rose 5.6 percent over that period.

  • Illinois gas prices have risen 30 percent under Biden, and are up more than 40 percent from where they were last July.
  • Used car prices in Illinois, a key inflation indicator, rose 15 percent – or $3,575 – since last year.
  • Housing has become less affordable, with the National Association of Realtors reporting that home prices have increased more than $66,000 from a year ago.

o   The average price of a home in Illinois is up 21.8 percent compared to May of last year, with home prices up 19.2 percent in the Chicago metro area.

CRIME IS SKYROCKETING IN ILLINOIS AMID DEMOCRATS’ PUSH TO DEFUND THE POLICE

  • Democrat-run cities like Chicago are seeing crime skyrocket.

o   This past weekend, at least 104 people were shot in Chicago, the most people shot over a July 4 holiday weekend since at least 2017.

o   Homicides are up by 5 percent and shootings are up by 17 percent compared to the same time last year.

o   Chicago children are dying from gun violence at a rate three times higher than last year.

o   Carjackings in Chicago are up 65 percent from 2020 and 497 percent from 2015.

ILLINOISANS ARE SEEING THE RESULTS OF FAILED DEMOCRAT LEADERSHIP

  • Under Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker’s failed leadership, Illinois’ economy is struggling to recover from COVID-19.

o   Illinois has the 9th highest unemployment rate in the nation at 7.1 percent.

o   Illinois has yet to recover half of its jobs lost from the pandemic and ranks 45thin terms of jobs recovered from the pandemic.

  • Despite repeatedly promising on the campaign trail to veto any partisan redistricting plan, Pritzker signed into law a bill that redraws the state’s Congressional districts to the Democrat Party’s advantage.
  • The Biden administration has repeatedly promoted green tech company Proterra, which Pritzker’s megadonor family is invested in.
  • Democrat-run Chicago has been ranked as America’s most corrupt city.
