When I made the decision to stay open, through the mental anguish, I knew that we would get lambasted on social media. I knew that people would wish me ill will. I knew that people would say that they won’t come back in. I knew that people would say I’m selfish and money hungry. I knew that people would say that I don’t care about my employees. I knew that people would say that I don’t care about my guests. I knew that people wouldn’t agree with my decision.
This has all proven true. And yet, it’s very hurtful. But the worst part of ALL of this is that I sadly do not have an option. This was all I could do.
So:
I hear you.
I hear the people that say they will never come in again.
I hear the people that say I’m selfish.
I hear the person that hopes my child gets Covid and dies.
I hear the people that say I’m the reason for ‘this all continuing’
I hear that my food sucks anyways.
I’ve read all of the negative comments
I read all of the messages
We hear you.
It’s hurtful.
And, even more hurtful that some of us don’t have a choice
I would think most of you would do the same thing if your back was absolutely to the wall and you needed to feed your families and the families of your 26 staff members.
I’m sorry to you folks that think I’m making the wrong choice. I really am sorry. I wish I didn’t have to.
I’m sorry that I’m not making the decision that you side with.
I do ask for some compassion and grace right now , however.
I’m just trying to navigate this the best I can, just like you all are.
Just because you hate my decision, doesn’t mean that I don’t hate it also. We have no egregious or egotistical motives behind our decision.
We really miss you Plainfield and we are hurting also.
