Napolitano, of Bloomingdale, will serve throughout 2017.

“ACCT advocates nationally for community colleges. I will use this appointment as an opportunity to tell our story of reform, so that other trustees will know that they can change the status quo when they need to. COD is not the place we entered in April 2015. It is vastly changed, and improved. By appointing one of us, ACCT recognizes this strength for its members.”

Napolitano has served as COD board secretary and budget committee chairman since taking office. On the Bartlett Village Board from 2009 to 2013, he strengthened oversight and accountability policies. Napolitano pushed fiscal accountability on the U-46 School Board, Illinois’ second largest K-12 school board, from 2013 to 2014.

College of DuPage, Illinois’ largest community college, serves some 27,000 students each term. It grants nine associate degrees and offers more than 170 career and technical certificates in more than 50 areas of study.

The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern over 1,200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States and beyond.
