CHICAGO – After Governor Rauner signed HB 40 Thursday, Family PAC's Paul Caprio issued a statement 180 degrees opposite of his position just before the November 2014 election.
In late October 2014, Caprio wrote an op-ed published on Illinois Review backing Rauner for governor over Pat Quinn and influencing a considerable number of Illinois conservatives to follow suit:
…We’ve seen a lot of broken promises … but I take Bruce Rauner at his word regarding his position on parental notification [before abortion].
For these reasons, I have decided to cast my vote for Bruce Rauner.
Thursday Caprio said:
Bruce Rauner today declared war on the pro-family movement, Illinois taxpayers, and the most basic values of the Republican party.
No serious conservative of any type can consider ever voting for Bruce Rauner again.
