Democrat gubernatorial hopeful Kennedy calls on Illinois to divest from firearm companies

CHICAGO – Democrat gubernatorial primary candidate Chris Kennedy wants the state of Illinois to withdraw any investments in "gun and weapon" manufacturers, he said Tuesday.

In his Tweets, the businessman did not specify what type of "weapons" he considered as unworthy of taxpayer investment – whether it included aerospace companies and tableware, baseball bat, rodent poison, auto manufacturers among those companies that should be abandoned as harmful.

Kennedy, whose father was shot and killed as a U.S. senator and whose uncle was assassinated as president, is a staunch gun control advocate.

  1. Interestingly, Kennedy isn’t advocating disinvestment from booze companies.
After all, that’s how his grandfather, Joe Kennedy, built the Kennedy fortune – running illegal liquor to the mobsters during prohibition.
How was his Kennedy grandfather any different from big-time cocaine and heroin smugglers today?

  2. There you go again, Clint, exhibiting your great memory. Don’t you know that having a good memory doesn’t make you “popular” with Democrats?
After all, the Dems have conveniently short memories regarding their party’s role in slavery, secession, the Civil War, the Ku Klux Klan, Jim Crow laws, segregation, etc. etc.
And Old Joe Kennedy had his daughter Rosemary’s brain scrambled by a lobotomy to kill off her sexual libido.
    What a nice family!
