SCHAUMBURG – District 211's school board is expected to be discussing adoption of a new policy that will force an end to separate locker rooms for their male and female students. The plan the board is considering is for a "full, unrestricted access" policy in all locker rooms, so boys and girls will be changing clothes right next to each other a parents privacy group in the district says.

The earliest a vote could be taken in October 17th.

"The meeting where they will introduce the policy is this Thursday, September 19th at Palatine HS," the email said. "Arrive as early as you can. Meeting starts at 7:30 but we encourage arrival by 6:30 or earlier."

The other side is "very well-funded" and "will be busing people in from outside our community like they did 4 years ago, the group says.

"They want to use us to further this dangerous agenda," the email says. "The radical minority is claiming to be the majority and gaslighting our kids, telling them they are wrong to object to this insanity, no matter how politely they do so or how kindly they treat their classmates."

"In our district and countless others, students, families and staff honor, respect and celebrate all manifestations of unique differences characteristic of the human condition. Our proposed district policy reflects these advancements," D 211's Superintendent Dan Cates said in a statement.

The group says Superintendent Cates brought in a consultant to inform the parents of over 900 gender identities, among which the identities could change from week to week. "They have never answered us as to why a third option for those who are struggling with gender dysphoria is not a reasonable solution  and they have demonstrated a complete lack of concern for over 99% of the students in their care," the group said.

The questions are raised as to why it’s acceptable for a student to object to sharing a locker room with others whose gender identity they don't share, but it isn't acceptable for other students to object to sharing a locker room with students whose biology and anatomy they don’t share.

District 211 includes Schaumburg, Conant, Hoffman Estates, Fremd and Palatine high schools.
