…The County Board did not meet. That Zoom event was a Town Hall hosted by [Board] Chairwoman Sandy Hart, completely separate from the County Board, who had nothing to do with the meeting, and were not consulted, in whole, at all with regard to the planning nor messaging of the event.

I, for one, do not agree at all with encouraging anyone to snitch on hard working businesses, who are desperately trying to hold on during these trying times.

Any recommendations made during that meeting were made under the control of Chairwoman Sandy Hart, and do not reflect any official statement, resolution or action performed by the Lake County Board, to my knowledge.

LAKE County, IL – The Lake County Board met via Zoom this week, and encouraged citizens to report COVID-19 Pandemic Emergency Order violations.

The violations the Board wants citizens to report include:

  • Business – Non-essential business is open
  • Business – Not maintaining separation in lines or store
  • Gathering of people in a private place
  • Gathering of people in a public place
  • Restaurant serving sit-down diners

The website located HERE says

"This online report is ONLY for suspected violations of the Illinois COVID-19 Pandemic Emergency Orders that occur in Lake County Illinois.

"Reports will be forwarded to the appropriate county and/or municipal enforcement agencies for review and action.

Please Note:

  • All reports filed through this system will be reviewed.
  • Upon review, if further investigation of your report is needed, you MAY be contacted.
  • Filing a false police report is a crime and will be investigated by our office.

The website says the "online tool is a joint effort of the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Health Department, States' Attorney Office, and Municipal Police Departments."
