CHICAGO – The story of a North Carolina 5 year old shot to death while riding his bike is creating an organic movement to draw public attention to a story the mainstream media is ignoring or purposely avoiding.

Cannon Hinnant was outside his father's house when neighbor Darius Sessoms, 25, approached the 5-year-old and shot him in the head, according to another neighbor who witnessed the incident.

First responders arrived at the scene and transported Hinnant to Wilson Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Cannon's mother, his two sisters, ages 8 and 7, saw their brother get shot.

Sessoms was apprehended by law enforcement in the nearby town of Goldsboro roughly 24 hours after the shooting. He was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond in the Wilson County jail.

But there's another equally heartbreaking story that happened in Chicago this week that made international news. As reported in the Daily Mail:

Chicago police charged an SUV driver with murder Monday after he allegedly struck a 55-year-old grandmother, then looped around the block to deliberately crash into her for a second time, killing her.

Arizona woman Zoraleigh Ryan was visiting Chicago with her daughter Shannon, 20, when they were both hit by a driver as they crossed the street in the city's North Side.

Ryan was killed when the driver allegedly circled the block and charged his vehicle at the women again.

A bystander managed to pull Shannon to safety, but Zoraleigh was hit and dragged for half a block under the vehicle.

Mrs. Ryan had moved recently to Arizona, and was back visiting her daughter in Chicago.

The 25 year old accused of driving the SUV that killed Ryan is being held on $2 million bond. The driver's immigration status has not been made public.
