Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney was the featured speaker last week at the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago last week. The event was attended by about 400 people, most of whom were students. Cheney was interviewed by Katherine Baicker, the Dean of the Harris School of Public Policy. You may watch the whole presentation including a very interesting question & answer on this YouTube link:

The Institute of Politics is an extracurricular, nonpartisan institute at the University of Chicago designed to inspire students to pursue careers in politics and public service. The Institute was formally established in 2013 with David Axelrod, who was President Barack Obama‘s chief campaign advisor, as its director.

Cheney spent most of the time discussing the January 6 hearings. She did say when asked that she would spent much effort to make sure President Trump never becomes president again. One student asked her why Ray Epps was not arrested for entering The Capitol in that day. Cheney mentioned conspiracy theories yet when asked about her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, she became defensive.

The Chicago Thinker, a conservative leaning student newspaper will be writing more on the Q/A.

Liz Cheney has been in the news lately as one of two republicans on the January 6 “Select Committee” investigating the events that took place that day. Cheney lost her bid for re-election in her primary only receiving 28% of the vote while Harriet Hageman won with 68% of the vote. Cheney has mentioned she might run for President. The other Republican is Adam Kinzinger who choose not to seek re-election.

Forner Vice President Mike Pence will be a featured speak at the University of Chicago on November, 29, 2022 at 10:30 am. The event is free and tickets can be found at this link:
