Last Sunday, bag pipes and drums led a march to honor Chicago Police Officers who have died in the line of duty over the 150 years of the department.
Several thousand police officers marched on Michigan Avenue from the Chicago River to Chicago Avenue. They included groups from the 22 Chicago Police Districts along with the Cook County Sheriff’s and Illinois State Police.

New recruits in the police academy held photos on stakes of the 606 officers who died in the line of duty.
Leading the march were CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling, Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. Several people spoke at the reviewing stand but not Johnson or Burke.

Chicago continues to have major issues with crime including murders, assaults, robberies, CTA crime, car jacking and the latest issue of youths gathering downtown causing disruptions and chaos.
At Illinois Review we continue to support the police. Thoughts and prayers for the families and friends of these fallen officers.
