For decades, Washington has measured success by the size of government programs. President Donald Trump is betting on something entirely different: ownership, investing, and building wealth.

Beginning today, parents of eligible children can enroll in Trump Accounts, a first-of-its-kind federal investment program designed to give America’s youngest citizens a financial head start. Instead of creating another government benefit, the program provides eligible children with a $1,000 investment from the U.S. Treasury, money invested in America’s leading companies with the opportunity to grow for years through the power of compound interest.

It’s a fundamentally different approach. Rather than encouraging dependence on government, which the uni-party has been doing for decades, Trump Accounts encourage ownership, personal responsibility, and long-term financial independence.

Here’s what parents need to know:

1. America’s First Federal Wealth-Building Program: Trump Accounts are the first nationwide federal program designed to give eligible newborns a direct investment account focused on long-term wealth creation.
2. A $1,000 Treasury Investment: Eligible children which translated basically means US citizens only, born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, can receive a one-time $1,000 contribution from the U.S. Treasury.
3. Tax-Deferred Growth: The investment grows tax-deferred, allowing decades of compounding before the child reaches adulthood.
4. Parents Remain in Control: A parent or legal guardian serves as the account custodian and may contribute up to $5,000 annually to help grow the account even faster.
5. Invested in American Companies: Funds are placed in low-cost index funds that track the S&P 500, giving every child a stake in America’s most successful businesses.
6. Built for the Future: The money remains invested until adulthood, creating a foundation that can be used for higher education, purchasing a home, starting a business, or building retirement savings.

Beyond the dollars and cents, supporters say the program sends an important message that every American child deserves the opportunity to participate in the nation’s economic success. It also introduces families to the power of long-term investing and compound growth at an early age, financial lessons that too often go untaught.

Parents can begin enrolling today through the official Trump Accounts portal or by filing IRS Form 4547.

This is an unprecedented policy shift in modern American government. It reflects a president who has spent his life understanding how wealth is created, preserved, and grown. For many working families, it represents something simple but powerful, the ability to give their children a financial foundation they never had, and a real chance to start life not from zero, but with a stake in America itself.

And as the markets continue to grow over the coming years, many of today’s newborns will one day look back on this morning as the day their financial future got its very first boost and it’s all because of a hard-working and successful New York billionaire who happened to become the 47th president of the United States during the time they were born, a man named Donald J Trump.
